How effective is Intensive Nutrition's DMAE free amine? When can I expect to see results?
Intensive Nutrition's DMAE free amine formulas start to work from the first use. Individuals feel a "tightening" of the skin after initial application. For maximum results we suggest using DMAE Free Amine products for a minimum of 6 weeks, twice daily.

How do I use these products? Where do I apply DMAE free amine?
Intensive Nutrition's DMAE free amine products can be applied liberally all over the face and neck, or, they can be applied to specific problem areas, e.g. eye area.  For best results, apply a medium layer of DMAE (in the case of the gel) and slowly dab and blend product into skin. For larger areas, the DMAE free amine liquid might prove more convenient.

How does DMAE free amine work?
It is believed that when applied topically, DMAE free amine stimulates small muscle contractions that then tighten the skin and consequently reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. This is an inexpensive alternative to more invasive cosmetic surgery.

How safe is Intensive Nutrition's DMAE free amine? Is it safe for contact lens users?

Why does Intensive Nutrition's DMAE free amine smell fishy? Will my skin smell fishy if I use this product?
DMAE free amine smells like fish because it is the DMAE amine in fish that gives it the characteristic fish smell. Intensive Nutrition's DMAE free amine, however, is not derived from fish (it is synthetically derived). There is no such thing as "natural DMAE amine." The DMAE free amine smell, while potent, does not linger due the very biochemical nature of the amine. After 3-5 minutes maximum, the amine smell will have dissipated completely.

Is your DMAE free amine natural?
No. All DMAE free amine is synthetically derived. "Natural" DMAE free amine essential does not exist i.e. is not available for use in either dietary supplements or cosmeceuticals.

What is the difference between DMAE free amine and DMAE bitartrate?
The difference is biochemical. DMAE bitartrate is a quaternary amine, meaning that all four positions of the DMAE molecule have formed bonds to create a DMAE salt, DMAE bitartrate. DMAE bitartrate is formed from combining DMAE with tartaric acid. DMAE free amine has all four positions "open" allowing this molecule to readily penetrate the skin.

I've read that the amine form of DMAE is harsh on the skin. Is this true?
No. Intensive Nutrition's DMAE free amine formulas are hypoallergenic and safe for the skin. Due to the alkaline nature of the product, we suggest that individuals use a moisturizer after DMAE application. We would suggest the same if DMAE acidic, for instance, like alpha hydroxy acids or other facial peels which can cause drying due to their acidic nature.

Why do you use water in your product?
Water, having the perfect pH of 7 (which is neutral), is optimal for skin and for the body as a whole. Water is an excellent base for these anti-aging products and allows for a safe, dilution process during manufacturing that allows Intensive Nutrition's DMAE free amine formulas to be free of preservatives.

I've read that DMAE amine will react to anions on the surface of the skin and render the amine ineffective. Is this true?
No this is false. The stratum corneum, or the skin's outermost layer, is essentially a layer of dead skin cells, free of anions for the most part. What anions it does have, for instance NaCL, would be unable to react with a weak base like DMAE amine. Therefore, the DMAE amine remains intact and effective.
top
Why do you not add other ingredients to your product (Vitamin C, etc.)?
We find that the simplicity of our DMAE free amine formulas work quite well without additional ingredients. Due to the nature of the amine, additional ingredients can dilute the amine's effectiveness.

Why do you add Bergamot to your gel formula? Is this safe for skin?
Bergamot essential oil is added to Intensive Nutrition's DMAE free amine gel formula to ameliorate the DMAE free amine smell. Intensive Nutrition's DMAE free amine gel formula contains Bergamot FCF or furo-coumarin free Bergamot. This Bergamot has the Bergaptine removed, making it safe for UV or sun exposure.
